The family systems theory states that a family is a system where each member plays a specific role and must follow certain rules. People are expected to interact with one another in a certain way based on their roles.

Homeostatic Diseases

Some homeostatic systems have a default set point value and any change of set point has to be actively maintained. Control of body temperature is less vulnerable to dysregulation because alternative set points are not stable. The homeostatic capacity of an organisms determines its ability to adapt.

Homeostatic systems with fixed points are resistant to dysregulation. If their buffering capacity is overwhelmed, the consequences are likely to be catastrophic, acute and fleeting. Homeostatic systems with set points that are adjusted are more adaptive, but are vulnerable to disease when set points are changed too much.

The flexibility and adjustment of the characteristics of the body are responsible for the diseases of the body. Homeostatic systems can have a fixed or multiple set points. The former are strong and inflexible.

The latter are more vulnerable to dysregulation. When the system becomes locked in an alternative stable state, chronic homeostatic diseases can occur. Plants have their own stock of food.

Storage stock is a special case of plant stock. Storage stocks are used to buffer the System stock from external fluctuations. Storage stock is connected by flows.
